Research use policy.
Everything we sell is for laboratory research use only, and this page explains what that means.

What research use only means
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
All Altara Research products are for laboratory research use only. They are not drugs, foods, cosmetics or medical devices. They are not for use in people or animals, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. These products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. The buyer is solely responsible for how these products are handled and used.
Every product we sell is supplied as a research material for use by qualified people in a laboratory setting. That is the only purpose for which we sell it.
Who may buy
To order from us you must be 21 or older, and you must be a qualified researcher or be buying for a research laboratory, institution or business. You confirm this before the Site loads and again at checkout. We check your checkout confirmation on our server and keep it with your order, together with your acceptance of our Terms & conditions.
Wholesale accounts are open only to research laboratories, institutions, contract research organizations, research and development teams in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and research-supply businesses. We do not supply clinics, medical or wellness practices, medical spas, pharmacies, compounding facilities, telehealth services or practitioners. See our wholesale page.
What we will not do
- We will not give advice on the use, preparation or application of any product in a person or an animal.
- We will not answer questions about using any product in a person or an animal, and we may close a conversation that asks for that information.
- We do not sell ancillary supplies of any kind. That includes equipment or solutions for preparing or administering any material to a person or animal. We do not source them on request.
- We will refuse or cancel an order, and may close an account, if we see any indication that a product is intended for use in a person or an animal, or for resale to anyone who will use it that way.
Your responsibilities
When you buy from us, you agree that you:
- will use the products only for laboratory research, and never in or on a person or an animal;
- will make sure the products are handled only by trained people, in a suitable laboratory, under your organization's safety procedures;
- will store, label and dispose of the products in line with the law and your institution's rules;
- are responsible for knowing and following the federal, state, local and institutional rules that apply to buying, possessing and using research materials where you are;
- will not resell or supply the products to anyone except for laboratory research, and will keep the research-use labeling intact.
Catalog codes
Some products are listed under a catalog code, such as ALT-3RT, rather than a compound name. A catalog code is simply how we identify a product in our catalog. It does not change what the product is or how it may be used. Every product page, including those listed by code, shows the CAS number, molecular formula and molecular weight, so you can identify the material exactly.
Product information and lab reports
Our product pages describe what a material is, how it is made, how it is supplied and how it is characterized. They do not describe any application or effect.
A product strength can be ordered only once its current lot has been checked against an independent laboratory report. The reports, from Freedom Diagnostics in the United States and Janoshik in the Czech Republic, are published on product pages and on our testing page, with instructions for verifying each one with the laboratory. Results are copied exactly from the report.
Reporting a concern
If you become aware that any of our products may have been used in a person or an animal, or supplied for that purpose, please tell us at support@altararesearch.com. We will investigate and take action, which may include refusing future orders and closing accounts.
Assumptions in this draft
Each of these was chosen so the policy reads as a whole, not because the business confirmed it. Every one needs checking before launch.
- Buyer eligibility rests on an attestation by the buyer, re-checked on the server at checkout and stored with the order. It is not documentary verification of research credentials. Counsel and the client should decide whether that is enough for the fulfillment partner's own research-use requirements.
- No ancillary supplies are sold or sourced, and the catalog must stay consistent with that statement.
- Catalog codes such as ALT-3RT are used for some products, with CAS number, formula and molecular weight shown on every product page.
- The exact disclaimer sentence and the research-use paragraph are used verbatim as provided.
- Each report on the Site is assumed to say whether it is a lot verification report or a reference report.
